Flapped at some crosses and in a mess for Brown's own goal 5 

Brown:
Gave Riera a hard welcome back to England early on but ex-City player
got on top 6

Ferdinand:
No frills from the England defender and was aerially solid 8

Vidic:
No giant to take care of but kept the slipper Keane in check, but red
card tainted afternoon's work 6

Evra:
Had blocked his flank up efficiently but then opened up for Babel goal 7

Scholes:
Crucially unable to get a grip on the midfield for the Reds 6

Anderson:
Unlike last season at Anfield he failed to impose himself in the
vital engine room 6

Carrick:
Didn't get a hold in midfield and then injury wrecked his afternoon
completely 5

Tevez:
Began like he'd tear Liverpool apart but then the service dried up 6

Rooney:
Wide right role kept him out of danger area and nothing came off for him 5

Berbatov:
Great assist for Tevez goal but not an ideal day for a United striker to
make impact 6
