Inter 0 United 0: Player ratings

Van der Sar: 5
Was always at the mercy of Liverpool as his defence crumbled.
Was given little hope with any  goal

O’Shea: 4
The Irishman had a truly torrid time. Was caught in possession too
many times and didn’t shore up his flank

Ferdinand: 5
With his sidekick enduring a poor time he suffered as a result and
unable to pull things together

Vidic: 4
Bad day at the office for the Serb from letting in Torres for the
equaliser to his red card

Evra: 5
Handed the visitors the advantage with his clumsy tackle on Gerrad for
penalty just before half time

Ronaldo: 4
When Reds needed his some magic from his as inspiration he wasn’t
up to speed

Anderson: 5
United’s maestro at Anfield last season but got nowhere near to
winning the midfield battle this time

Carrick: 4
Liverpool’s midfield were so on top and he never got the room to
test the back four and get Reds attack going

Park: 6
Mr Perpetual Motion in the first half and was one of few who put
Anfielders under pressure on the ball but faded in second

Tevez: 7
If more of his team mates had put in the normal shift like he did then
Reds may have got something out of it 

Rooney: 6
In brief spells he looked like he could get United going and spark
something but it didn’t happen often enough

Subs:

Berbatov (sub Park 73) 4
Never in it

Scholes (sub Anderson 73) 4
All over before he could do anything

Giggs (sub Carrick 73) 4
