Ruud Hits Out At Transfer Rumours

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been angered by persistent rumours in the UK and
Spanish press that he is bound for Real Madrid or Barcelona.
United's Dutch striker has made the point on several occasions that he
wants to remain a United player, but says ceaseless speculation has caused
some fans to believe there is no smoke without fire.
Ruud, 27, condemned the reports as lies, a fabrication that he suspects
has emanated from Spain.
"I'm absolutely furious that so many lies have been written about me going
to Madrid that the Manchester United fans are genuinely concerned
I'm going," Ruud told the Sunday Mirror.
"I don't know where the rumours began to manifest themselves but I suspect
they came from Spain. When the fans start to believe it, that worries me.
"Where do people get off with this rubbish? There is absolutely no
foundation to the story. There isn't a grain of truth in it.
"I tried to allay the fears of the fans by holding a public press
conference but when the pizza man makes a delivery to my house and writes
a note inside the box pleading with me to stay, it's gone too far.
"And I want to make it clear once and for all that the Manchester United
fans have nothing to worry about. I'm going nowhere, end of story."
