Manchester United Football Club have rubbished rumours
linking Rio Ferdinand with a summer exit from Old Trafford

The England international is still sitting a suspension served on him by
the Football Association for failing to attend a drugs test, and is set for
a return in September.

The loss of the defender is considered as one of the main reasons United failed
to push Arsenal for the title last season, and there have been rumours that
the club will cash in on him this summer.

However, chief executive David Gill insists the 30million record signing will
remain at Old Trafford, where he will once more prove to be one of the finest
defenders on the planet.

"When he comes back it will be like signing a new Rio Ferdinand again
 in September and I am sure that once again he will prove he is one of
 the best defenders in world football,” said Gill.
