Queiroz Close to Old Trafford Return


Carlos Queiroz - who walked away from Manchester United last summer -
is on the verge of making a return to the club.

United are said to be close to offering Queiroz the opportunity of becoming
assistant manager for a second time, and many experts are forecasting that
if he accepts the post, the former Real Madrid coach will be groomed to
replace Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson has no immediate plans to stand down, but will celebrate his 63rd
birthday this year and the club wants to avoid a repeat of the situation
it found itself in when the manager made his original retirement announcement
three years ago.

Queiroz is also being linked to the vacant managerial post at Tottenham Hotspur
but is ready to reject Spurs if United make him a firm offer of a return to
his old post.

A popular figure with the United players, Queiroz helped guide them to
the Premiership title in 2003 but at the end of that campaign left to
take charge of Madrid where he did not have the same success.

After a season which saw the Spanish giants trophy-less and finishing a lowly
fourth in La Liga, Queiroz was sacked.Queiroz close to Old Trafford return

Carlos說︰

“Yes I will return to Manchester United next month. There are just a few
  things to adjust but, everything is set for my return to Manchester. I will
  work on the same basic lines last time, with the same responsibilities that
  I has in 2002/2003 season but, one thing changed, my contract now will be for
  a long time.My mission now at the club will be working with Sir Alex Ferguson
  to build a much stronger Manchester United team and return to the top world
  club."
