Targetman Not A Priority for Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson will not be bringing in a recognised targetman
should he make one last transfer move before 31 August.
Jermain Defoe is the latest Premiership star to be linked to Manchester United.
The Tottenham striker is said to be the player Ferguson hinted about signing
this weekend when he revealed he could be in the hunt for more talent before
the transfer deadline closes.
Even with three of his pool of strikers - Ruud van Nistelrooy, Louis Saha and
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - out of action for at least the next month, Ferguson has
made it clear a recognised hitman is not on his shopping list.
"We have no intention of bringing in another striker. Not a striker as such -
an out-and-out striker," he said.
The former West Ham striker, who moved to White Hart Lane when they were
relegated last year, appears to fit that criteria and reports claim Ferguson
is about to table a ￡12m bid for Defoe.
