Manchester United have entered the race to sign Wayne Rooney by
offering ￡20m for the Everton striker.

The Old Trafford bid comes after Newcastle had a similar offer rejected by
the Goodison Park club for the 18-year-old England star.

The Magpies are believed to have made an improved, ￡22m offer since then,
and are awaiting Everton's response.

Now United have moved for the sought-after striker, but have offered less than
their Premiership rivals.

Everton manager David Moyes earlier issued a warning to Newcastle boss
Sir Bobby Robson, insisting Rooney was worth much more than Chelsea's
￡24m star Didier Drogba.

He said:

"I would like to quote Bobby Robson's words: 'You're talking about buying
 the most exciting, brilliant young player in Europe'.

"If that is what he thinks then he has got to pay the most exciting and
 brilliant price. He is well short now."

Moyes added:

"Newcastle said that the offer is still on the table. Well it's not on my
 table because we don't want it there and it's certainly not enough.

"Didier Drogba went to Chelsea for ￡24m so Wayne's price should be well more
 than that.

"He is English and if you want to buy English you have to pay a higher premium.

"We don't want to lose Wayne but if we do the only way is at the top price and
 the value we want."

BBC Sport understands Everton will not even discuss the possibility of Rooney
leaving the club unless they receive an official cash bid in excess of
￡27m - and even then are more likely to demand ￡30m.

It has been reported that Newcastle are willing to go as high as ￡28m to land
England's star of Euro 2004.

Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson remains confident of securing the services of
the 18-year-old, despite their initial bid being rebuffed by Everton.

He said: "I don't think this is all over to be honest.

"Everton are short of money and need to sell players and he is a saleable asset
 at the moment.

"We have put in a bid that no-one else has put in. There are other people
 trying to buy clubs for ￡20m at the moment, never mind just one player.

"In my mind that is a sizeable amount for a young boy who is only 18. I am not
 saying it is a risk. He is a young footballer with immense talent and with a
 great future."

Rooney has so far refused to sign a new five-year contract worth
￡50,000-a-week and it is now increasingly likely Everton will have to sell
their prize asset
.

Woodgate signs for Real

Newcastle bid for Rooney even though the England star is still two weeks away
from kicking a ball after breaking a bone in his foot in Portugal.

Chairman Freddy Shepherd said at the weekend that fans would be "pleasantly
surprised at what results from the Woodgate deal".

Manchester United have matched Newcastle United's ￡20 million bid for
Everton starlet Wayne Rooney.

The Magpies submitted their bid for the England international at the start of
the week but that was rejected by Everton.

Premiership rivals Manchester United are likely to be met with a similar
response as they have failed to improve on Newcastle's offer.

Red Devils spokesman Phil Townsend said:

"I can confirm that we have made a bid but I have no details."

Toffees manager David Moyes remains desperate to hang on to the teenage forward
, who is currently sidelined with a foot injury.

Moyes revealed on Wednesday that it would take at least the ￡24 million
Chelsea paid for Didier Drogba before Everton would consider any offers for
Rooney.

It is more likely that a figure in the region of ￡30 million would be required
before Moyes becomes amenable to the departure of his talisman.

Everton's financial predicament means they may eventually be unable to resist
the offers for their home-grown hit-man.

But, in the interim, they are prepared to allow the two Uniteds to stage an
auction until a suitable figure is reached.

The Red Devils' bid for Rooney comes just days after Old Trafford chief
executive David Gill revealed the club would not borrow a substantial sum to
sign the 18-year-old.

Gill, though, may have swallowed the bait after Newcastle manager
Sir Bobby Robson joked The Red Devils could not match his own team's
financial clout.

In response to The Red Devils' offer, The Magpies are due to up the ante again
on Thursday by raising their bid for Rooney to ￡22 million.

But with both offers falling way below Everton's valuation of Rooney, time is
running out for either side to prise the star of Euro 2004 away from Goodison
Park before the close of the transfer window next week.

Reds Confirm Rooney Bid

Manchester United have confirmed they have made an offer to Everton for striker
Wayne Rooney.

The bid is believed to be in the region of ￡20million. The club say there is n
othing further to add at this time and that their offer is now a case of "wait
and see".

Newcastle previously had a ￡20million bid rejected by Everton and were thought
to have made an improved offer.

Rooney has persistantly been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the summer
months, and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer out for the rest of the season and Diego
departing to Villareal, Ferguson appears keen to return to having four striker
s.

今夏魯尼一直與曼聯扯上關係，在索爾斯克亞受傷，科=弗蘭離隊下，弗格森或希望購入魯
尼維持他 4 個前鋒的策略。

現時曼聯前線只得阿蘭史密斯一名前鋒，薩哈剛剛復出，而范尼斯特魯伊仍在養傷之中。

不過，似乎埃弗頓不會輕易賣掉魯尼，估計他們不會考慮低於 2700 萬鎊的出價。

　　新浪體育訊　在本周早些時候紐卡斯爾聯隊要收購魯尼的消息傳出後，週三曼聯隊官
方網站宣佈將加入收購戰，他們將以兩千萬英鎊的價格收購魯尼，這個價格比當初從埃因
霍溫買下范尼還要高。一度是埃弗頓「非賣品」的寶貝魯尼，由於豪門的強大攻勢，看起
來埃弗頓隊留住這名神童的難度已經越來越大。

　　本周早些時候，英國媒體曾披露紐卡斯爾聯隊將以兩千萬英鎊的價格收購魯尼，但隨
即埃弗頓和紐卡兩傢俱樂部都否認了這則消息。不過，現在看起來魯尼已經不打算繼續在
埃弗頓繼續留下去了。


　　在歐錦賽以後為了防止豪門俱樂部哄搶一炮走紅的魯尼，埃弗頓開出了5000萬英鎊的
天價，同時俱樂部給小魯尼開出了周薪5萬英鎊的合同，要知道俱樂部此前工資最高的凱
文-坎貝爾才不過3.6萬英鎊，不過，魯尼並沒有在合同上簽字。而且事態變的對埃弗頓更
糟，魯尼本人主動提出了轉會申請，紐卡斯爾聯隊兩千萬英鎊買魯尼的消息正是在這種情
況下出籠的。


　　不過曼聯隊也很快出了至少2千萬英鎊的價格，而且這不是媒體的小道消息，曼聯官方
網站公開報道了這件事情，顯然，他們對得到魯尼有很高的把握。


　　曼聯隊發言人菲爾-拖恩森德表示，「我可以肯定我們開價要收購魯尼，但具體細節我
並不清楚」。


　　一度極力反對轉讓魯尼的埃弗頓主帥莫耶斯，如今也表示，如果對方能以創造英超聯
賽價格的記錄購買魯尼的話，他將認真考慮，他提醒買家們，切爾西以兩千四百萬收購德
羅巴，因此買魯尼這樣的英國人只能高於這個數目。埃弗頓日益惡化的財政情況，以及遲
遲不到位的啟動資金使該隊有可能成為第二個利茲聯隊。


　　紐卡斯爾聯隊最多可能出到兩千兩百萬英鎊，夏季沒有大動作的曼聯儲備的資金顯然
更多，而且轉讓了巴特和弗蘭以後，他們急需一名有強大號召力的前場球員，看起來他們
是唯一可以滿足埃弗頓的胃口的。雖然媒體介紹切爾西隊和皇馬也有意魯尼，但前者陣容
已經完整，後者有勞，羅，莫，歐四大前鋒。如此看來，魯尼將是兩名爵士在轉會日期截
止前的直接較量，看起來Sir Alex 比Sir Bobby的勝算更大一些。

而且今年沒花到什麼錢
HEINZE+SMITH也不過1300萬鎊
打進小組賽的錢就夠了

也就是說
這個夏天
曼聯董事會還沒拿半毛錢出來

BUTT+FORLAN還有一些零頭可以零花......

多的是錢啦
所以大交易有本了.....

2200萬可以買魯尼

然後
我估計明年範尼會以2800萬鎊轉會某馬.....
因為我估計某胖明年會以3500萬鎊轉會到某西........
