Manchester United have been boosted by the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, who
could line up against Premiership newcomers Norwich on Saturday.

The winger has returned to Old Trafford earlier than expected after Portugal
were surprisingly knocked out of the Olympics by Costa Rica.

The 19-year-old will resume training on Friday and may be thrown straight back
into United's injury-hit side.

Sir Alex Ferguson had said he would have to rest Ronaldo for three weeks.

However, the winger - who had a starring role for host nation Portugal at the
European Championship - only played two games at the Olympics.

Ferguson had been angered that Portugal had called up the teenager and has
expressed fears that his team are already on the verge of burn-out.

"We are asking the same players to play the most important games all the time
and that could have a wearing effect," said Ferguson.

injured and unavailable. It's been a real headache."

United's summer recruit Gabriel Heinze is still in the Olympic competition with
Argentina.

And if they reach the final on 28 August, the defender may not feature in the
Premiership until late September.
