MATCH PREVIEW
- Having already dented the title hopes of one Manchester club, Wolves head to
Old Trafford for the second time in as many weeks looking to end the Red
Devils' recent revival by securing a first win there in over 30 years.
- Last month's League Cup defeat at the hands of a second-string United side
will be fresh in Wolverhampton minds, but Mick McCarthy's men will return to
the north west with renewed confidence thanks to last weekend's well-deserved
victory over Manchester City.
- The Midlands club remain in the bottom three, but their performance against
City added weight to McCarthy's insistence that his side's position in the
table is an unfair reflection of their recent displays.
- United go into the match chasing a sixth successive victory. The Wayne
Rooney furore seems to have galvanised Sir Alex Ferguson's men, who remain
unbeaten in three competitions. Tuesday's Champions League victory over
Bursaspor provided a fifth clean sheet in eight matches, with Ferguson
acknowledging that the return of Rio Ferdinand, who sat out the trip to
Turkey, has had a major impact.
- Meanwhile, Ferguson has defended McCarthy and Stoke boss Tony Pulis over
recent criticism that their teams are too aggressive. "It is an insult to
the managers of the teams, because you couldn't get two more honest guys
than Tony Pulis and Mick McCarthy," Ferguson told Inside United magazine.
"Players are babies now. In my day you had to hit someone with a hatchet
before a referee booked you. It's a different game now."

M.E.N Prediction: United 2-0 Wolves
- the Reds have a decent rhythm at the moment and Wolves are unlikely to
upset it
Key opponent:
Kevin Doyle – the striker has only scored three goals this season, but
remains Wolves' main threat in the danger zone.
Skysports.com prediction: United 4-1 Wolve
One to Watch: Dimitar Berbatov
Lawro's Premier League predictions United 2-0 Wolves
Since Wayne Rooney signed his new contract United have not stopped winning
and I think a lot of players have thrown down the gauntlet to him.
One of them is Javier Hernandez. He has all the qualities as a goal-scorer
but works his socks off too and deserves all he gets out of the game which I
think will be a lot - he'll become a top player.
Wolves impressed me last week with their win against Man City. They have a
really good spirit and it was obvious which of the clubs had better unity,
but they are certainly going to need all of it at Old Trafford.
