His defence left him terribly exposed in the first 45 minutes but he was
solid

Nemanja Vidic - 6
Not a first half he'll look back on with pride but he did dig in and improve

Chris Smalling - 7
Struggled when Blackpool were on top but was a tower of strength in the
latter stages

Patrice Evra - 6
An early whack in the mouth didn't put the Frenchman of his game

Rafael - 7
The Brazilian was United's brightest spark when the rest were having a down
time

Darron Gibson - 5
Hardly in it in first half and sacrificed to move Rooney

Nani - 5
One cross and a couple of good passes was not his best contribution

Darren Fletcher - 6
Overwhelmed by Charlie Adam in desperate first half but he got the upperhand

Paul Scholes - 7
Was always searching for that killer ball even when United were being swamped. Determination paid off

Dimitar Berbatov - 8
Might as well have been walking on prom in first period but then when
presented with chances he gobbled them up

Wayne Rooney - 5
Hardly in it on wing and not much better when switched
