MATCH PREVIEW
- Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger rarely see eye-to-eye, but for once both
agree on one thing - the month of December could prove decisive in the
Premier League title race.
- Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all face each other in a series of
mouth-watering clashes between now and the New Year, starting with Monday's
much-anticipated showdown at Old Trafford.
- While the emergence of enemies with deeper pockets may have led to a
thawing of relations between these two clubs, the animosity still lingers.
The Gunners' last five encounters with United have been painful events and
Wenger will not need reminding that since the London club's last piece
of silverware in 2005, Ferguson's men have lifted seven major trophies.
- Arsenal are being tipped as genuine title contenders this time round, but
doubts will remain until their record against their rivals improves -
Wenger's side have won none of their last 10 against United or Chelsea.
- Wenger believes Manchester United defender Patrice Evra showed a lack of
respect by branding Arsenal nothing more than a "training centre" in the
build-up to this game. What better to way to show they have substance as
well as style by ending United's unbeaten record?
MATCH FACTS

Lawro's Premier League predictions United 1-1 Arsenal
This is a bigger game for Manchester United in so far as it will tell them,
and us, more about where they are at in terms of the state of their title
challenge than it will about Arsenal, because United haven't really played
that well so far in this campaign.
They were up against Valencia in midweek but they have had a bit of a rest
because their game at Blackpool was called off last weekend, so they should
be ready for Arsenal.
We already know a lot about the Gunners - they have got good, but not
outstanding goalkeepers and, defensively, they are also desperate for Laurent
Koscielny to play every game because Sebastien Squillaci is a bit suspect at
the moment.
But Arsenal will flood the midfield and they have lots of players capable of
keeping hold of the ball and taking the pressure off their defence.
Neither of them will be scared of losing but these games are notoriously
tight.
Arsenal have got the best away form in the Premier League but they are going
to Old Trafford and their manager Arsene Wenger would probably settle for a
draw if you offered it to him beforehand. United will go for the win,
obviously, but I think Sir Alex Ferguson would probably be happy with a point
too.
