Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs are set to miss United's two games against FC
Copenhagen and Portsmouth.
Along with Louis Saha, the pair did not travel to Denmark for United's
Champions League Group F match on Wednesday evening, and are now major
doubts for Saturday's visit of Portsmouth at Old Trafford.
"Ryan has a hamstring injury and is doubtful for the match," confirmed Sir
Alex. "Gary is having trouble with a recurring calf injury which he suffered
during the World Cup. We don't think it's serious, but if it keeps recurring
we'll have a problem. We want to nip it in the bud as soon as possible."

Sir Alex also confirmed that Patrice Evra has recovered from the ankle knock
he picked up against Bolton on Saturday, while Saha looks likely to return
against Pompey, after being rested as a precaution for the Copenhagen game.
"Louis got a knock on the knee but will definitely be fit for Saturday,"
insisted the United boss.

Meanwhile, the Scottish tactician has confirmed Paul Scholes, who missed
five months of last season with an eye problem, is playing with blurred
vision.
Former England international Scholes has been back to his best this term,
although the 31-year-old has not been able to see everything clearly.
However, Ferguson has stated all is being done to help Scholes' condition
and that his ability to shine on the pitch has not been affected.
"There is a slight haziness in the central part of one eye," he continued.
"But we have worked on the situation to minimise it.
"I think there is no problem with the actual vision in terms of being able
to play football."
