Fergie delight at goal advantage

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes his side have the
advantage over Chelsea in their title pursuit due to their superior goal
difference.
The Red Devils' stretched their lead at the top of the table to four
points following their 3-1 triumph over Wigan, whilst Chelsea only
managed a 2-2 draw at home to Reading.
United's goal difference is now thirteen goals superior to that of
Chelsea, an achievement which Ferguson believes is worth an extra point.
"The goal difference helps us, there is no doubt about that," he said.
"I have always believed in those terms, ten or twelve goals makes a point.
"If it remains that way, it is something we have to fall back on.
Hopefully we won't have to, but it is there anyway."
It has been said that United's squad is not strong enough to maintain
their title challenge due to lack of depth, but Ferguson believes it is
"an insult" to make such a claim.
"We are coming to the part of the season where we have to utilise the
squad and I need to show some of the players who haven't been in the
team regularly that I have confidence in them and that I trust them,"
he continued.
"I want them to feel they have made a contribution. I also need them
to have minutes on the clock in case we do pick up injuries and
suspensions."
Ferguson will need to make changes to his side ahead of their clash with
Reading, as Nemanja Vidic and Paul Scholes are both suspended after
collecting five yellow cards.
With Reading having caused an upset on Boxing Day against Jose Mourinho's
Chelsea, Ferguson believes that his side will have to be cautious in order
to avoid a similar result.
"We have to be wary of Reading," he said.
"I wasn't really surprised by the way they performed at Chelsea, although
I was delighted by the result.
"It just reinforced what we will have to do this weekend."

曼聯領隊弗格森表示，曼聯現在的得失球差，可謂比起切爾西再多一分。
由於切爾西打和雷丁，而曼聯又擊敗維根，得以在得積分榜上再領先多兩分。
不過，現在紅魔鬼的得失球比起切爾西多十三個，即使切爾西追致同分，曼聯
仍然擁有優勢。
在1989年，阿森納與利物浦在季尾以相同分數完成聯賽，而最終阿森納以入球
數字較多奪得當年的英甲冠軍。
「得失球差對我們來說有幫助，這是毫無疑問的。」弗格森說。
「我經常都相信，有10-12個得失球優勢，可謂多了一分。」
「如果我們被追平分數，這便很有用途。希望我們不需要這樣，但無論如何這
都是個事實。」
在對維根的比賽曼聯作出了多處的調配，而他表示對雷丁時會再作出一些變動。
但有兩個調動肯定會出現的，便是維迪奇與史科爾斯都停賽。
而當日休息的里奧費迪南與吉格斯應該會復出，而薩哈或隊長加里內維爾都應該
會上陣。但當天擔任正選的索爾斯克亞有出色表現，射入今屆所有賽事的第七個入球。
「現在已到聯賽一個階段是必須重整陣容安排球員去上陣，而我要給予一些平時
不是正選的球員上場，而且我對他們有很大信心，我信任他們。」
「我希望他們覺得自己對球隊有貢獻。而且我也要他們隨時準備好，萬一有球員
受傷要隨時準備上陣。」
對於下場對手雷丁在對切爾西的表現，弗格森說︰「我們必需小心雷丁。」
「我對於他們對切爾西有這樣的表現絕不驚訝，雖然我對這個戰果感到歡喜。
因此這也提醒我們，必定要打醒十二分精神去對雷丁。」
