United captain Gary Neville will miss the FA Cup final after undergoing an
exploratory operation on his injured ankle.
The 32-year-old defender hasn't played since being injured in a tackle with
Gary Speed in the match against Bolton Wanderers on 17 March.
There was a slim chance of a comeback before the end of the season, although
Sir Alex Ferguson rated the Bury-born right-back as doubtful only last week.
He had been due to resume football training this week, but a United
spokesperson told ManUtd.com on Tuesday that Neville's season is now over.
"Gary Neville has undergone an exploratory operation on his right ankle and
he will miss the FA Cup final," read a statement to ManUtd.com.
Neville was on the pitch after the West Ham game to lift the Premiership
trophy with Ryan Giggs, but fans will now have to wait until next season
to see the Reds skipper in a United kit again.

雖然曼聯的傷員大多都已恢復，不過隊長加裡-內維爾在休養兩個月後，傷勢還是沒
有好轉。昨天，他接受了腳踝手術，將無緣本周的足總杯決賽，而接下來英格蘭對巴西
和愛沙尼亞的比賽也無法參加。
雖然弗格森曾經表示，內維爾的傷勢並非很嚴重，只需要休息三周就可以康復，但
事實上，自從三月份這名右後衛受傷後，他就沒有參加任何比賽。上週五內維爾回到了
訓練場，但匆促復出反而加重了傷勢，曼聯的官網也證實了這點：「內維爾右腳踝動了
手術，將缺席足總杯決賽」。
內維爾無法參賽，對弗格森無疑是個打擊，不過昨天在接受採訪時，他依然表示，
曼聯有自信走完一個完美的賽季，「我們是一支年輕的隊伍，我相信我們能取得勝利。
勝利就像是生活中的靈丹妙藥，它可以讓你有精神煥發，接下來一年，我們將做得更好
。」
「我們是這個國家最好的球隊，踢出了最好的足球。這個賽季我們的成績對英格蘭
足球的發展也有推動作用。曼聯用一種正確的方式奪得了冠軍，我們的球隊充滿個性、
打法華麗，同時具有必勝的勇氣和決心。我認為我們具有一支偉大球隊的所有特徵。」
確實，雖然沒有內維爾，但費迪南德和維迪奇已經復出，維斯-布朗或者奧謝都可以
客串右後衛。尤其是布朗，這名昔日的新星最近發揮不錯，他也得到麥克拉倫的認可，
很可能取代內維爾參加6月1日對巴西的友誼賽，以及接下來對愛沙尼亞的歐洲杯預選賽。
當然，布朗畢竟是中衛出身，由於理查茲也受了傷，利物浦副隊長卡拉格是麥克拉
倫造右路的第一選擇，而布朗與菲爾-內維爾都能作為替補。此外，謝聯隊長雅吉爾卡也
是入選國家隊的熱門人選，不過在此之前，他將代表B隊於本月25日迎戰阿爾巴尼亞。
