曼聯想要以￡2.5m 收購西布朗門將Kuszczak不過被拒絕。
West Bromwich Albion have rejected a third bid from United for their
Polish goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak.
The Reds want to bring the 24-year-old international stopper to Old
Trafford as cover for first-choice keeper Edwin van der Sar.
However, Albion chairman Jeremy Peace has said the only way he will sanction
a move for Kuszczak is if United agree to allow Giuseppe Rossi to join the
Midlands club on a season long loan. Having sold Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real
Madrid, the Reds want to keep highly promising 19-year-old Rossi at Old
Trafford this season.
Albion chief Peace said: "At this moment in time, selling Tomasz to United
is not a viable option. It would severely weaken our squad at a time when
we are trying to strengthen it for a promotion push.
"If we sold Tomasz to United, without Rossi coming in return, it would
potentially cause us more problems without solving any - despite the
receipt of cash."
United have had two earlier bids rejected for the former Hertha Berlin
stopper, who has told Albion he would like to join the Reds.
"[Our decision] will come as a disappointment to Tomasz who has indicated
to us he would like to join United," Peace added. "But it is the board's
job to do what is best for this football club and we will not sell Tomasz
unless the deal suits us."
And the Albion chairman issued a warning that he will not be forced into
selling Kuszczak if it is against the wishes of the board and to the
detriment of the team's push for promotion back to the Premiership.
"Because of the way this football club is structured," he explains, "we
are under no pressure to sell anyone. Tomasz will only be sold if it is
in our interests to do so."
