O'Neill keen on Bardsley

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has confirmed his interest in signing
Manchester United defender Phil Bardsley on loan.
The full-back recently returned to Old Trafford after an unsuccessful loan
spell with Scottish giants Rangers, having fallen out with former Ibrox
manager Paul Le Guen.
The 21-year-old has also spoken with Championship side Sunderland about a
similar loan move to Roy Keane's side.
However, Bardsley's agent Des Wroe told skysports.com last week that his
client was interested in a temporary switch to Villa Park, and O'Neill has
gone on to confirm his plans to bring him to Birmingham.
"I spoke to Sir Alex a few days ago about Bardsley and he wouldn't mind at
all," O'Neill said.
"But like anything else, until things are signed, I won't take it for
granted.
"Hopefully he'll join us this week, though obviously he can't play against
Manchester United next weekend.
"We just want to start building the squad up a wee bit to give the players
a helping hand."
