Neville To Undergo Crucial Calf Scan
Gary Neville faces a crucial scan on his injured calf on Wednesday which
will determine whether or not he can play again in the World Cup.
The England right-back missed out on the 2-0 win over Trindad & Tobago
and will also sit out the final group game with Sweden on Tuesday night.
He will undergo an examination on the injury on Wednesday morning, with
Sven Goran Eriksson admitting he is unsure if Neville will recover in time
to feature in the remainder of the tournament.
"Gary Neville has not started running yet and will have a scan on
Wednesday," confirmed the Swede. "It will decide if he can start
running or not.
"Will he play in the second round? We hope so - but we are not sure.
"Hopefully he will do running on Wednesday or Thursday but let's see
what the scan says."
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher will again deputise in Neville's
absence.
