REDS star Ryan Giggs says he will not give up international football
while he believes Wales can qualify for a major tournament.
The Cardiff-born winger missed the midweek friendly for his country
against Slovenia through a chest infection, which is set to sideline
him for the weekend clash with Aston Villa.
Wales have long since dropped out of the running for Germany 2006 and
some cynics have suggested that captain Giggs may sooner, rather than
later, announce his retirement from international football.
However the 31-year-old star has no intention of quitting, wants to work
with manager John Toshack and still believes Wales can reach a major final.
Giggs said: "I wouldn't keep going if I didn't think Wales could qualify
one day for a major tournament.
"We have to try as hard as we can to get to a major championships because
that is what everybody wants.
"If you asked me if I would give up another title with Manchester United
in return for seeing Wales in a finals I would say no, because I want both.
"Both are achievable in the next few years. You want the title because
you want to be the best in your league, but I still want international
success too."
