Marked his new contract with the Reds by revelling in his return to his
homeland Solid at the back and a menace in attack

Another rock-solid display by the skipper. Dove-tailed well with Smalling
and even shrugged off a painful blow to the face

As with his derby display, the youngster looks to the manor born in a United
shirt. Calm and assured in every department

Lack of pace almost caught the Irish defender out on the odd occasion but
otherwise a solid evening's work
Darren Fletcher - 6
The pick of United's midfield triumverate. The Scotland skipper had United's
best chance and harried and sniped all night
Darron Gibson - 5
A surprise inclusion from the off, the Irish midfielder was heavy on
perspiration even if his inspiration was a tad lacking
Michael Carrick -
Something of a Crawley hangover for the England man though he did pick up
slightly after a poor first-half display
Nani - 6
Won his personal duel with ex-Reds star Gabriel Heinze by a landslide only
to be let down by an inconsistent final delivery
Wayne Rooney - 7
Deployed on left as in past Euro missions which nullified his attacking edge
but never stopped working for the cause
Dimitar Berbatov - 7
Some trademark pieces of individual brilliance but the Reds' top scorer
found both space and time hard to come by

Veteran midfielder instantly perked up the Reds' wayward passing game. Neat
and tidy and showed all his experience
