Some questionable kicking early on, but saved well from Miller and Naismith
in either half

Jonny Evans - 6
Caught flat-footed as Naismith had Rangers' best chance of the second half,
which was saved by Van der Sar

John O'Shea - 6
Able to get forward and support Nani on a number of occasions, but delivery
let him down at times

Fábio -7
Out of position on a couple of occasions, but always keen to help in attack.
Won decisive late penalty

Chris Smalling - 7
Another step on the learning curve playing in the cauldron of Ibrox, but
hardly put a foot wrong

Ryan Giggs - 6
Struggled to find gaps in a congested final third. Put Rooney in with a
second half cross that the striker headed wide

Nani - 6
A constant threat, but spurned two first- half efforts and his decision-making
let him down after the break

Michael Carrick - 8
Tormented Rangers with his intelligent use of the ball continually turning
the screw as United dominated possession 

Paul Scholes - 7
Controlled midfield and kept looking for a way through, but was often
frustrated by Rangers stubborn defence

Dimitar Berbatov - 7
The Bulgarian was one of United's main threats, putting in a tireless shift.
Should have won a penalty early on

Wayne Rooney - 6
Heavy touches on occasion, but hit the bar in first half and crucial late
penalty will do his confidence world of good
