Back after a two month injury lay-off and it was as if he'd
never been away. Shored up the backline magnificently with Vidic

Nemanja Vidic - 7
Immense and immovable at the heart of the Reds defence. When
paired with Rio, United still look a different proposition

Patrice Evra - 7
Produced a crucial block on the line to deny Lampard a goal
but the French star was lucky not to concede an injury time pen

Rafael - 7
Feisty and combative as ever and added a measure to steel to go with
United's silk before injury forced him off

Antonio Valencia - 7
Again got the starting nod over Nani and the Ecuadorian
didn't disappoint, and also deputised ably as stand-in right back

Ryan Giggs - 7
Stunning touch and vision to set up Rooney's goal and the Welsh
wizard brought all his vast experience to bear

Michael Carrick - 9
For so long United's whipping boy, the Geordie was immense
- his display summed up by the pass which set up Roo's winner

Park Ji-Sung - 7
Another big-game start for the all-action Korean who ran his
socks into the Stamford Bridge turf for the Reds cause

Javier Hernandez - 6
Worked valiantly for the cause but was out-muscled by
Chelsea's defence while his touch and passing were a touch awry

Wayne Rooney - 9
With the eyes of the world on him, Roo took all the brouhaha
of the past few days in his stride... and scored a peach
