Ferguson Looks For United To Bounce Back
Sir Alex期待紅魔重回狀態
Sir Alex Ferguson says his side must take the chances they are creating,
and expects the Old Trafford crowd at Tuesday’s Champions League clash
with Benfica to get behind the team.
Fans aired their disapproval during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Blackburn.
The unrest stems from a frustration at the lack of goals recently.
United have drawn three matches and lost once in the last four games
and have scored just two goals in September.
由於近期曼聯貧乏的進球數，不安的曼聯主場球迷們在上星期六2-1輸給
Blackburn的比賽中大聲表達了他們的不滿。
最近四場比賽之中曼聯平了三場、輸掉一場，整個九月只進了區區兩球。
But, at his pre-match press conference, Sir Alex said United would
try to avenge Saturday’s result like they do any other loss,
and refused to be drawn on supporters’ dissatisfaction with the defeat.
但在賽前記者會上，Sir Alex表示曼聯會像他們輸掉任何一場比賽一樣，
嘗試雪恥上週六的輸球陰影。Sir Alex並拒絕對支持者的不滿表示回應。
"The Benfica game is important to me," he said.
“We’re doing a good job of getting the players back from a defeat.

"I’m here to talk about the Benfica match,” when pressed again
about the reaction from fans at Saturday’s game.
“Of course we don’t like losing games, I don’t need to say these things.
That’s always the case and we have to do something about it.

並在比賽過程中吶喊 4-4-2 及 Attack, Attack），Sir Alex說：

"In football, when you lose a game, you always have the opportunity
to put it right. Sometimes it’s seven days sometimes it’s four days.
In this case it is three days. It’s nothing unusual.
We’ve tasted defeat in the past and we will again.
It’s not just this club, it happens at every club.
「足球比賽就是當你輸了一場球，總是有機會能夠在下一場改進。
有時候要隔一週才有機會證明，有的時候只隔四天。
週二的歐冠則是隔了三天的機會。這不是什麼不尋常的事。
我們在過去嚐過失敗的滋味，以後也會。
這不只是在曼聯才會經歷的事，而是在每家俱樂部都會有的經歷。」
"The support will be great on Tuesday," he added.
"It’s a European night and it’s always a special occasion at Old Trafford.
There seems to be an extra edge to our European home games."
「週二的比賽將有球迷們很棒的支持。
這是一個歐洲賽事的夜晚，在老特拉福歐洲賽事總是如此特別。
我們的歐冠主場比賽總是似乎有種特殊的優勢。」
Ferguson will be without the suspended Wayne Rooney following
his sending off against Villarreal in the 0-0 draw at El Madrigal,
but the United boss will also demand his attacking players
take a greater share of the chances the team creates.
Failing to convert opportunities was patently United’s problem
against Blackburn.
"We have the experience in attack," Ferguson said.
"With Ruud van Nistelrooy and Paul Scholes,
we have two of the best finishers in the game.
「在進攻上我們有的是經驗。我們擁有兩個世界上最好的機會終結者(finishers)：
Ruud van Nistelrooy 和 Paul Scholes。」
"If you’re creating chances it is one step forward.
If we create chances on Tuesday then those players will hopefully take them."

The mention of Scholes is an important one. So far this season,
only Ronaldo (one goal), Rooney (three) and van Nistelrooy (six)
from Ferguson’s pool of attacking players have found the net.

只有進了一球的Ronaldo、進了三球的Rooney 和進了六球的 van Nistelrooy 三人。
"Paul just needs a goal to get his season off to a good start,"
Ferguson points out. "He had four attempts on Saturday.
We have to keep creating chances and take our fair share of them."

The Champions League remains high on Ferguson’s list of priorities.
It is a competition he holds in higher regard than any other tournament
in football.

"All the best players in the world are playing in the Champions League,”
he notes. “It’s a bigger competition than the World Cup,
a fantastic tournament."

Asked why it is superior to the World Cup, Ferguson ventured:
“Simply in terms of entertainment. For me, the last entertaining
World Cup was in 1986. I think they have been disappointing since then.

Ferguson’s enthusiasm and determination to again lift
the European Cup may be needed to lift his team from a poor run of form
in September. A 4-1 scoreline against Benfica on Tuesday,
like the one that heralded United’s first success in the tournament
in May 1968, might also quell the undeniable unrest amongst fans.
要將爵爺的隊伍從九月低迷的狀態中拉起很可能就需要Sir Alex再度問鼎歐冠冠軍的
熱情和決心。若能像曼聯歷史上第一次奪得歐冠金盃一樣，在週二取得於1968年
五月同樣對Benfica打下的 4-1 比分，也可能平息球迷心中的不安。
