Manchester United centre-half Rio Ferdinand and midfielder Anderson are set
to miss Tuesday's quarter-final first-leg tie against Porto.
Both picked up injuries while on international duty last week and both sat
out training on Monday.
Striker Dimitar Berbatov has an ankle injury and also misses out.
But Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes all return having missed
Sunday's Premier League victory against Aston Villa with suspensions.

BIG MATCH STATS
- Manchester United and FC Porto have been drawn against each other on three
previous occasions in European competition.
- Porto have knocked United out of Europe twice, in the 1977-78 Cup Winners'
Cup and the 2003-04 Champions League. United eliminated FC Porto at the
quarter-final stage of the 1996-97 Champions League.
- The three previous meetings at Old Trafford ended in 5-2 and 4-0 wins for
the Red Devils and a 1-1 draw.
- Current squad members Wes Brown, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes (who
scored in the home leg), John O'Shea, Darren Fletcher and Cristiano Ronaldo
all played for United during the second round matches with Porto in 2004. FC
Porto's only survivor from those matches is Pedro Emanuel who came on in the
36th minute of the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
- Manchester United have won all but one of their nine home matches with
Portuguese clubs - the exception being the aforementioned 1-1 draw with
Porto in 2004. That match is also Porto's only success in England on 12
previous visits.
CLUB FORM
- Playing in their 10th Champions League quarter-final, a record for the
competition.
- Unbeaten in 21 Champions League matches, also a record for the competition.
In addition, it is a record for all European competitions (excluding the
Super League), breaking Juventus' mark, set in 1972.
- Unbeaten at home in the competition for over four years, since a 0-1 defeat
to AC Milan. The 19-match undefeated streak is one match away from the club
record set between 2001 and 2004.
KEY PLAYER NOTES
- United's Brazilian midfielder Anderson played three matches for FC Porto
in the 2006-07 Champions League.
- Wayne Rooney is the only United player to have played in all eight of the
club's matches in this season's Champions League.
Rooney will be suspended
for the second leg, if he is shown a yellow card.
───────────────────────────────────────
- Seven Porto players have played in every match of their club's CL campaign
this season with two - Bruno Alves and Rolando - on the field for every
minute.
- Cristian Rodriguez, Ionut Sapunaru and Hulk will be suspended for the second
leg on receipt of a yellow card in this match.
OTHER MISCELLANEOUS FACTS
- The second leg of this fixture will be Sir Alex Ferguson's 150th in the
Champions League. No other head coach comes anywhere near this total with
Arsene Wenger the only other person to take charge of more than 100 matches
in the competition (114).
