布朗望打入冠軍杯決賽

布朗希望可以打入冠軍杯決賽，再嘗獎盃滋味。
曼聯自 1999 年後取得冠軍杯就未曾打入決賽，紅魔鬼週三將會開始今季冠軍杯的分組賽
，作客出戰法甲冠軍里昂，而布朗希望可以一直打進今年於土耳其舉行的決賽。
布朗道：「球隊奪得冠軍杯時，我只有 18 歲，我當時認為球隊會一直是決賽的常客。」
「不過之後我們未曾打進決賽，所以我更想取得勝利，希望打進四分之一決賽、半決賽及
決賽，與最佳的球隊對壘。」
布朗在 99 年冠軍杯決賽出任替補，不過並沒有上陣，他希望那一晚不是他職業生涯唯一
一次冠軍杯決賽。
「就算只是坐在替補席上，感覺也非常棒。」他說。「當時你不會想那是唯一一次冠軍杯
決賽，我當然希望不會。」
「我希望可參與多幾次決賽，我相信球隊可以有能力做到。賽事將愈來愈艱辛，不過我們
有能力再次勝出。」
「在里昂有一個好開始的話，將會十分理想。」

Wes Brown admits that United's failure to repeat their Champions League triumph
of 1999 is driving him on to help the club re-scale the pinnacle of European
football.
United face Lyon on Wednesday night in the opening game of the 2004/05 campaign
- their sixth since beating Bayern Munich in Barcelona - and Wes is eager to
reach this year's final in Turkey.
Brown said: “I was only 18 at the time of the European Cup win and you think
then that you are going to keep on doing it. You think nights like Barcelona
will be a regular thing.”
“But it hasn’t happened and that’s why you want it more. You want to get
yourself into the situations again when you are playing against the best teams
and be in the quarters, semi and finals."
Brown was an unused substitute in Barcelona, and is desperate for that night
not to be his only taste of a Champions League final.
“It was a great occasion and great to be on the bench," he said. "At the time
you don’t take in the fact that it could be your only experience of something
like that. Hopefully it won’t be my only experience of it.
“I hope to have many years left to get back there and I am sure the club will
make it back. The competition has got stronger but we are capable of winning it
again.
“A good start at Lyon will lift everybody.”
