明天凌晨，紅魔曼聯將坐鎮老特拉福德主場迎戰意甲領頭羊AC米蘭。大戰將至，主帥
弗格森和曼聯舊將斯塔姆都用豪邁甚至是攻擊對方的言語表達著己方的信心，而靈動飄逸
的吉格斯則選擇了另一種方式迎接即將開始的決戰：31歲的威爾士飛翼向米蘭致敬！
已經為曼聯出場624場的吉格斯在接受曼聯電視台採訪的時候說：「這些年，我和曼
聯一起經歷了很多重大的比賽，但是我敢說，沒有一個對手比AC米蘭偉大！他們的實力深
不可測，比賽之前，我們必須盡最大努力忘掉那些響亮的名字。要向擊敗米蘭，曼聯必須
展現出以往的王者氣質，好在我們在最近的比賽中逐漸找回了曾經的感覺。」
吉格斯在最近兩場比賽中都被主帥弗格森藏在了板凳上，而曼聯恰恰贏得了兩場激動
人心的勝利，一場是曼徹斯特德比，一場是做客古迪遜對陣大黑馬埃弗頓。如今，吉格斯
的求戰慾望已經達到了頂峰。他說：「在和伯明翰比賽的時候，我受了傷，所以沒能在最
近兩場比賽中露面。不過我也因此得到了寶貴的休整時間。現在我的訓練狀況一切良好，
還比大多數隊友多歇了一個星期，所以我希望能在賽場上會會米蘭。」
「和米蘭交戰是一種挑戰，我想所有職業球員都想品嚐這種滋味。曼聯在英超聯賽和
足總杯上的勢頭都很好，現在我們要在歐洲賽場上享受足球樂趣。其實，看看米蘭的歷史
和球星，他們和曼聯有很多相似之處。所以這兩支球隊的碰撞肯定精彩，我們所有人都在
期待著。」
老謀深算的弗格森已經為這場冠軍聯賽謀劃許久了，他比穆裡尼奧幸運，因為隊中的
吉格斯、斯科爾斯等老將既得到了足夠的休息時間，球隊也一直保持著上升的勢頭。不過
在未來不到二十四小時的時間裡，弗格森將為一個人頭疼，他就是曼聯現役歐戰最佳射手
范尼，荷蘭人因傷缺陣3個月，他的身體狀態、心裡素質包括林場狀態是否能夠承受如此
重要的比賽，都值得商榷。不過想當初，魯尼在登陸老特拉福德的處子戰中就上演了精彩

Ryan Giggs is hoping to hit peak fitness for AC Milan's visit to Old Trafford
on Wednesday, a meeting of which the Welshman says there are none bigger.
The 31-year-old winger has been named as a substitute for United's last two
matches - against Manchester City and Everton - but hopes a full week of
training has warded off a slight hamstring strain.
"I felt the injury against Birmingham," Giggs told MUTV. "Being substitute
against City and Everton has given me a chance to mix training with a bit of
rest.
"Training has gone okay. I have a full week behind me now, so hopefully
everything will be fine for Wednesday."
Preservation is a skill Sir Alex Ferguson has become more adept at this
season;both Giggs and Keane have been given extended resting time in recent
weeks.
And it is necessary. Coupling the nous and experience of his senior squad
members with the youthful exuberance of Ronaldo, Rooney and Fletcher has
proved a successful formula for the Reds boss.
United go into Wednesday's last 16 first leg meeting on the crest of a wave
that has seen them collect 41 points from a possible 45 in their last 15
Premiership outings.
Giggs, who will make his 625th Reds appearance on Wednesday, says United
must draw every ounce of confidence possible from that impressive run of
results.
"We have played in some massive games down the years but there are none
bigger than AC Milan," he said.
"They have huge strength in depth. You tend to forget the number of quality
players they have in their squad.
"To have any chance of beating them, we will have to show the same kind of
form we have been producing in our other games recently."
Atmospheres are rarely more charged than at Old Trafford during the latter
stages of the Champions League, and when pitted against opposition of such
pedigree, Giggs says there are few greater challenges in the game.
"This is the sort of challenge all players want," said Giggs. "We all enjoy
playing in the Premiership and the FA Cup but in the Champions League you
are pitting yourself against the cream of Europe.
"When you look at the history and players they have had, and the whole
structure of the club, they are very similar to us. It is two great teams
meeting and we are all really looking forward to it."
