UNITED kick-off their pre-season campaign with a cross-border skirmish
with Clyde as they warm up for their far-east tour.
Sir Alex Ferguson is taking a strong first team pool to Broadwood Stadium
for the clash with the Cumbernauld side to contest the Optical Express cup.
The match which will be a warm-up for the Reds, with Ferguson planning
to give his stars 45-minute runouts during the game.
Clyde have had a difficult summer, despite having finished highly
in the Bells First Division, with new boss Graeme Roberts having
to put together a whole new squad.
An invitation in the paper for try-outs brought hundreds of inquiries
to the club and, as former Spurs and Rangers star Roberts puts the
finishing touches to his team together, United could boast new signings
Ji-sung Park and Edwin Van Der Sar in their line-up.
New signing Paul McHale is likely to skipper Clyde, while assistant
boss Joe Miller is also likely to feature.
The game will be shown live on MUTV.
