Pique gets United chance

Manchester United have handed Spanish youngster Gerard Pique a five-year deal.
The 17-year-old moved to Old Trafford in the summer as a trainee after leaving
Spanish giants Barcelona.
After making three first team appearances this season, Pique has been handed
a long-term deal by Sir Alex Ferguson.
Pique celebrates his 18th birthday at the start of February and he could ask
for no greater present than a chance to prove himself at United.
"I will give it everything I've got and then maybe in two years I will be in
the team," said Pique.
The central defender will find it tough to get into the starting XI however,
with Rio Ferdinand and Mikael Silvestre forming a sturdy partnership of late,
while the likes of John O'Shea and Gary Neville can also fill in.
Wes Brown has found it hard to get a game himself, and he says that it has
never been tougher to get into United's side.
"This is the toughest period in my career in terms of competition for places,"
said Brown.

該名十七歲的球員是在暑假由巴塞羅那轉會到曼聯。
Gerard Pique在今屆於一隊上陣過三次，而表現亦令費格遜向他提供一份合約。
Gerard Pique在二月頭便會十八歲，相信這是他今年最好的生日禮物。
「我會將我所學到的百分百付出，希望兩年後我可以得到提升。」Gerard Pique說。
不過，現階段Gerard Pique要提升到一隊並不容易，因為球隊已經習慣了起用
Rio Ferdinand與Mikael Silvestre，而John O'Shea與Gary Neville都可以擔
任中堅。而Wes Brown則更加難而經常出任正選。
因此，Wes Brown表示在球隊的競爭很劇烈。
「這是我在職業生涯中競爭得最緊張的時刻。」Wes Brown說。
