Alan Smith scored United's opener in a 3-0 win over Bolton as the Reds began
the defence of their Premier Reserve League crown on Monday night.
Wes Brown, who partnered Spanish youngster Gerard Pique in central defence,
completed an hour of the game to aid his recovery from an Achilles injury.
Smith had turned down the chance to play for England against Denmark
this week in order to work on his match fitness at United. And it was
the Yorkshireman that set the Reserves on their way to victory against
Bolton.
Playing in his adopted central midfield role, he started an attacking
move which ended with a powerful burst into the box and a neat finish
from Smith to make it 1-0.
Colin Heath got United's other two goals, the second of which took a
fortuitous deflection, looped over the Bolton goalkeeper's head and
in off the bar.
With a number of last season's all-conquering Reserves out on loan this
season, Ricky Sbragia will have been pleased that his side have continued
their winning form into the new campaign.

近一個小時的比賽，他希望不斷的訓練和適度的比賽能夠讓自己盡快從傷病恢復過來。
為了盡快適應在曼聯隊的比賽，史密斯拒絕了本周代表英格蘭與丹麥隊的比賽。正是
因為這位約克郡人的出色發揮，曼聯預備隊才早早跨進了勝利的大門。
史密斯今天作為球隊的中場出戰，他在比賽中前插進攻的意識非常強。在幾次進攻無
功而返之後，史密斯終於抓住了一次機會。史密斯前插衝進禁區，抬腳一射最終撕開了對
手的大門，幫助曼聯1-0取得了領先。隊友科林-西斯包辦了曼聯隨後的兩粒進球，最終幫
助曼聯預備隊3-0大勝對手。
上個賽季曼聯預備隊在聯賽中所向無敵，但是那支預備隊中多名球員都已經被球隊租
借出去了。在多數優秀預備隊隊員被租借之後，球隊仍然能夠繼續保持贏球的勢頭，預備
隊教練裡基對此感到非常滿意。
