今天曼聯有三個球員第一次在預備隊聯賽中首發，Simpson, Gibson and Campbell，相比
之下Sunderland的球員從身體稻經驗上都強出很多。這種差距在上半場限制了曼聯球員的
發揮，中前場只有Rossi能製造出一些威脅，上半場僅有的兩次射門也是來自Rossi，還沒
有打在門框之內。第3分鐘Sunderland的6號就利用身體優勢在禁區內頭球搶點射門，被
Simpson在門線上擋出，但球還是彈到6號腳下，他補射入網。

下半場曼聯的表現有了很大改善，球員踢得更放鬆，特別是在S Evans換下Cooper以後，
場面一度在曼聯的控制之下。可惜在此之前Sunderland再次利用身體優勢打進第二球，右
路45度傳中，另一個高點9號力壓Pique頭球入網。之後曼聯打出配合，第65分鐘，前場斷
球後，Campbell將球傳給Rossi，Rossi禁區內晃過一人射門得分。最後十分鐘由於急於扳
平，場面又有點混亂，終於沒能再進一球，結束了預備隊聯賽的15場不敗。

整場比賽Sunderland也沒什麼必進球，Howard連做精彩撲救的機會都沒有，輸得有點可惜
，不過相信球員也有所收穫。

其他：Paddy不知道去哪兒了，今天的比賽是Denis Irwin評論；Gibson剪了頭髮刮了鬍子
，顯得沒那麼酷了；下一場比賽9月6日晚客場對Leeds，MUTV北京時間凌晨1:15直播；
ManUtd.com說Blake已經傷癒，即將出現在預備隊比賽中。

United were shocked by Sunderland at Ewen Fields as the champions
succumbed to the visitors' physical superiority.

The Reds fell behind to a goal in either half, and Giuseppe Rossi's
fine goal proved no more than a consolation as they slipped to their
first defeat of the season.

Ricky Sbragia's side were caught napping after just four minutes.

The visitors worked a quick free-kick into the box, and Christian
Bassila converted at the second attempt after his first header had
been blocked on the line.

Despite a couple of half-chances worked by Rossi, United found themselves
trailing at half-time. And things went from bad to worse before the hour
mark.

Black Cats striker Chris Brown powerfully headed the ball back across the
dive of the despairing Tim Howard to double his side's lead.

Rossi halved the arrears after 66 minutes following good work from Fraizer
Campbell.


The 17-year-old fed the ball to Rossi on the left-hand side of the area,
and the Italian-born forward placed a right-footed finish into the far
corner after tricking the Sunderland defence with a drop of the shoulder.


The goal sparked United into relative life, but they were ultimately
unable to break down the visitors' stubborn rearguard.
