United now have nine players out on loan this season as Sir Alex Ferguson
looks to give first-team experience to some of the young players at the club.
It has been decided that Reserve team football does not offer enough of
a challenge for the players that are not quite ready for reglar first-team
football at Old Trafford, and so it has become an increasing trend to
send those players out on loan.
ManUtd.com will keep you up-to-date with the Reds at their respective clubs.
This weekend, only Ben Foster was on the winning side as Watford defeated
Burnley in the Championship...
Ben Foster, Watford - Until 21.05.06
Ben Foster was unlucky to concede a penalty for Watford against Burnley
as he appeared to get a touch on the ball when Ade Akinbiyi went through
on goal. The Hornets went on to win 3-1 and move fourth in the Championship.
Chris Eagles, Sheffield Wednesday - Until 31.12.05
Eagles played 59 minutes of Sheffield Wednesday's 2-1 defeat against
high-flying Ipswich. The 19-year-old, who is playing on the right of
Wednesday's midfield, was replaced as Paul Sturrock's side were 1-0
down and chasing the game.
Jonathan Spector, Charlton - Until 11.05.06
Jonathan Spector is yet to make his debut for Charlton after suffering
a hamstring injury during pre-season training.
Paul McShane, Brighton - Until 31.12.05
Paul McShane stood out at the heart of Brighton's defence despite The
Seagulls eventually being defeated 2-0 by Hull. He played the full game
but Brighton couldn't keep Hull out and slip to second from bottom.
David Bellion, West Ham - Until 15.06.06
David Bellion is yet to make his West Ham debut as he continues his
recovery from a broken leg suffered whilst playing for United's Reserves
in May last season.
David Jones, Preston - Until 1.1.06
Preston couldn't stave off defeat to second-placed Sheffield United in
the Championship, but 20 year-old midfielder David Jones got another
90 minutes in the 2-1 loss.
Colin Heath, Swindon Town - Until 1.1.06
Colin Heath played 80 minutes for Swindon on his debut for the trip to
Blackpool in League One. Swindon faced a barrage from the home side and
were somewhat fortunate to escape with their first away point of the
season in this 0-0 result.
Tom Heaton, Swindon Town - Until 1.1.06
18-year-old goalkeeper, Tom Heaton, was an unused substitute for Swindon.
Phil Picken, Chesterfield - Until 31.12.05
Phil Picken made his debut for Chesterfield against Oldham on Saturday,
playing the full 90 minutes. But the 19-year-old defender, who only
joined Chesterfield last week, saw his new club on the end of a 4-1 defeat.
