United's Under-18s put the minor disappointment of an FA Cup semi final
first leg defeat to Arsenal behind them to beat Middlesbrough 2-0 in the
league on Saturday.
The young Reds are 1-0 down in the two legged tie after defeat at the
Emirates Stadium, but the return leg at Old Trafford on Monday 2 April
is still to come.
Despite chasing a place in FA Youth Cup final, Paul McGuinness' side are
still focused on finishing as high as possible in the league.
Against Boro at Carrington on Saturday, neither side was able to break the
deadlock before the half-time interval, but United came out strongest in
the second half.
The breakthough finally arrived for the Reds when Irish forward Chris Fagan
grabbed the opening goal on 53 minutes.
United appeared headed for a narrow winning margin before substitute Danny
Welbeck, on for Febian Brandy, made it 2-0 with three minutes of the match
remaining.
Fans can pay on the gate for United's crucial FA Youth Cup semi final second
leg against the Gunners at Old Trafford on Monday 2 April (KO 19:30 GMT).
