Nani: I love scaring teams

It may seem like yesterday that he arrived as fresh-faced unknown from
Sporting Lisbon, but Nani has now started his fifth season at Old Trafford.
Revelling in the responsibility of being an established attacking weapon, the
Portuguese trickster wants to keep terrorising defenders....

自里斯本競技轉會曼聯的那段時光好像歷歷在目，但事實上，納尼已經在曼聯待了五個
賽季。而納尼也不止樂於擔當一個進攻球員，他更想要活用腳下技巧，讓防守者看到他
拿球就怕。

How excited are you about the new season? 

We’re all very excited. It’s a good chance to improve and do more – much
more - than last season. For me, last season was fantastic and this is a big
chance to show I can do much more, that I’m a good player with a very strong
mentality. I always work hard to be successful and I like to help my team so
we can win titles as well.

對於新賽季，你(們)有多期待？

超興奮！
我想要更多，我想要比上賽季更多的機會來展現我有多強大，我有多堅強。
我會不斷努力追求成功並且幫助球隊再次奪下冠軍的。



Was last year your best campaign to date? 

Yeah. It was my best year and I played more games as well. It was definitely
my most consistent season. This year, I will do my best. If I am fit for
every game, I am 100 percent sure I will do my best for my team.

上賽季是不是你最好的賽季？

當然，那絕對是我最好的一年，而且我的狀態一直處於高檔。
如果我能全年不受傷，那100%保證每場球都能看到我最精彩的表現。



How important was it for you to win last year’s players’ player of the
season? 

It was very important for me inside the dressing room, with my team-mates. It
showed me that now everyone knows my position inside, on the team and how
important they think I am in the team. It shows how much responsibility I
have for the team and the club as well, and that’s making me more confident,
making me happier, making me want more responsibility. Now I’m in the right
position to do everything I wanted in the past.

關於你拿到了上賽季(曼聯的)「球員票選最佳球員獎」，感想如何？

這很重要，這個獎項鞏固了我在更衣室的地位，它讓我更有自信、快樂，也使我想要進
更多球、過更多人。現在，我在曼聯的地位已今非昔比。



There’s a buzz in the crowd whenever you get the ball now – does that also
give you a big confidence boost? 

Yeah. I think, for the players I play against, it’s always the same. In my
first season, maybe two or three players didn’t know me.

Then they see me play and see skills and goals, and then in the next seasons
they started to be more careful with me because they know what I can do. Now
it’s always the same. As soon as I get the ball, two players [are on me]
*slaps hands* and then I have to be clever and run away from them! I like it.

I like to be a player who makes others scared. When I have the ball I like to
feel the confidence to go and do my skills and dribble at defenders.

只要你一拿球，場邊立刻會開始鼓嘈，這樣子也讓給你信心大爆發嗎？

是的，無論是我第一年到英超還是現在，不管那些防守球員認不認識我，或者就算被包夾
我都會想盡辦法讓他們看不到我的車尾燈。

我樂於讓那些防守球員懼怕我。一但我拿到球，自信心立刻爆棚，一定要腳踏車連發來
過掉防守球員。



What do you think of the new signings? 

I think they are very important signings for us. You need the competition.
Ashley [Young] has been doing very well in his early games, [David] De Gea
and [Phil] Jones too. They have this opportunity, but they have time as well
to get into the team, learn things around the club like our mentality. It’s
very different here at United to where they come from. It was like that for
me as well. When I first came I had to have time to get used to playing at
this big club.


那些曼聯新兵們，你有什麼看法？

競爭帶給球員們成長，這很重要。阿揚、德赫亞和瓊斯在還沒轉會到曼聯前都是非常棒的
球員，但一但你到曼聯，最需要學習的則是曼聯的精神-堅強、永不放棄。
我當年也一樣，需要花點時間來適應這家大球會。


In terms of the new lads bedding in, how good a team-bonding exercise was the
US Tour?

It was fantastic. We had time enough to start to know each other, for the new
players to get involved with us. We are a big team who knows each other,
everyone is happy with everyone – that’s the big thing we have at this
club; that everybody fights together.

在美國的巡迴賽，對隊上新成員的融入有多大的幫助？

幫助超級大。因為我們有足夠的時間了解彼此。曼聯強大之處就在於我們不是一個人
我們是一隻戰隊，是一隻軍團。



How much of a bearing will our tough early-season fixture list have on the
season?

I think it will be very important, because if you win most of these games you
feel more confident, and easier games come afterwards. It’s all about the
most important games because whoever loses less points in those games will
have the conditions to win.

對於賽季初一連串強強對決的賽程，你的看法如何？

這就像倒吃甘蔗一樣，把困難的比賽贏下來會帶給我們更多自信，因為接下來的比賽相對
就容易多了。



Who do the players see as our biggest rivals for the title? 

It will be the same. City, Chelsea, Arsenal. It’s always the same. Chelsea
are always very experienced and strong. City will make the step up because
they have good players. The league will always be decided in the last games.
It’s always that way. The teams who can stay strongest in the last games
will fight for the title.

你認為這賽季奪冠的主要對手會是？

跟以往差不多，曼城、切爾西還有阿森納。切爾西是隻經驗老到的強獸人軍團，而曼城砸
了數億去建購一個可怕的陣容。我想這賽季的冠軍歸屬依然是不到賽季末是看不出來的。
唯有能堅持到最後一場比賽的球隊才是贏家。



What’s the ultimate aim for the team this season? 

I think this year we will try to win more trophies than last season. Last
year, we did well but we just won the league. We will try to win more. We are
proud to be champions, but we want to win even more this season.

談一下這個賽季球隊的最終目標吧。

冠軍，更多的冠軍。上賽季我們只拿下了英超冠軍，雖然英超冠軍已經很爽了，
但這賽季一定要拿下更多的冠軍才行。
