guitar and Carlton Hibbert (off and on) drums, percussion.
2. Grind’s first London gig was at the Rock Garden in Covent Gardens, further
gigs followed at The Mean Fiddler, The Flag, The Robey, The Brain and many
others all over the city.
3. Grind supported Beverly Craven at The Mean Fiddler!!! remember her?
4. Ian Hazeldine is not a pseudonym, he is a very real person and a very good
friend of mine.
5. Ian Hazeldine knew Paul Draper very well, seeing him on a weekly basis at
his company ‘Triangle Design’ where Paul would bring artwork for output
through Ian’s colour copy bureau.
6. Although much was reported in the press in 1997 regarding a copywrite
dispute, at no point did I ever contact, speak to or recieve money from any
publication.
7. Between Grind and Mansun, Paul set up an music comapny called ‘Ambiance
Productions’ which was funded by a grant from the Princes Trust. Ambiance
produced relaxation tapes which were sold in hippie shops around the Northwest
– the music was produced on the same equipment that had been gigged around
London by Grind and later went on to be listed on the AOTGL sleeve.
8. Paul was always a huge DC comic fan and he created 'The Grey Lantern'
alter-ego to help him overcome his nervousness on stage, he felt if he could
become someone else, someone who was a super-hero, he would be ok.
