an error on his birth certificate but his real name is Steven)
Date of Birth: 8 January 1974
Band role Bass Guitar
Personality: Easily the most approachable with Andie coming a close second.
On stage he gives off the impression of being a cool fucker but in reality
he is down-to-earth and not at all 'popstar-ish'. Stove is considered Mansun's
PR person in the group as he is usually the one that does interviews with
fanzines and he also looks after the Mansaphone messages.
Reputation The quiet one; silent but deadly (smashed his bass, Sid Vicious
-style, over the head of a heckler at a gig in Leicester); the Cheshire James
Bond.
Former Employment Photo Retoucher for Wirral Graphics for one year after
leaving Liverpool Printing College.
Background: Bought up in Ellesmere Port, near Deeside. Worked for one year
at Prism graphics retouching 'glamour' photos.
Lives: In Chester with friend Ben Hughes
Influences: Abba, Bee Gees, 70's disco, funky flares
Crucial Records "The Very Best Of The Bee Gees", Soundgarden's
"Superunknown".
What are your obsessions? "I collect James Bond videos. I've got six Sean
Connerys, seven Roger Moores, one George Lazenby, two Timothy Daltons and a
Pierce Brosnan. I bought a safari suit for £15 the other day in a second-hand
shop in London, probably subconsciously because it was a bit James Bond-y.
"I love The Bee Gees as well, especially Barry Gibb - he was so corny he was
cool. Can I imagine Bee Gees fans being into Mansun? Well, there are Bee Gees
fans in Mansun... I love that look: the flares, the tight trousers. And
"Saturday Night Fever" (featuring Bee Gees soundtrack) - that bit where John
Travolta's sitting down at dinner, ready to go out, with a towel on and his
dad hits his hair - brilliant."
Little known facts: He has a tattoo of Muppet's drummer Animal on his bum.
He wrote the lyrics to 'Hideout' and wrote 'K.I.Double.S.I.N.G' with Chad.
