這裡顯然少了 f 在 (a,b) 之間連續。
Proof. 由於 f 有界,記 sup f(x):= M, 且 inf f(x):= m. 則易證明
f(x) → m, as x→a+, 且 f(x) → M, as x→b-.
定義 g (x) = f(x) if x in (a,b),
= M if x = b,
= m if x = a.
則 g 必為連續函數 on [a,b].
NOTE. 如果 f 不是有界,例如 tan x:(-π/2,π/2)→|R, 那這結果不會成立。
