Let F be a closed subset of (-∞,+∞) , and let f be continuous relative to
F . Show that there is a continuous function g on (-∞,+∞) which equals f
in F . If |f(x)| ≦ M for x belonging to F , show that g can be chosen so
that |g(x)| ≦ M for -∞ < x < +∞ .
