Howard是六呎六吋，有著7呎二吋雙臂伸展長度的威克森林大學四年生。他是個優秀的防守
球員和抓籃板好手。連續三年他都有平均八個以上的籃板，對一個二號球員來說是是相當
令人驚喜的。  He’s got a great intermediate game.(請大大指點這一句的意思)
如果你看他的錄影帶，你會發現他總是會在禁區中搶到球。我們覺得他可以加入我們並真
正參與其中。他是個讓老尼非常興奮且期待的球員。

: We tried to get all the way up to as far as we could go, but we were trying

有關交易：

: He’s a great defender. He’s got long arms. He can hit the open jump shot.

Howard要打2號還是3號呢？

: On having a four-year college player:
: It’s nice because he will be more mature. My first year we had to hire the
: equivalent of a dorm room resident assistant because you have to accommodate
: a kid who is 18/19 years old. The fact that Josh is 23 makes things a lot
: simpler for us. He’s mature, did really well in school, did well in his
: interviews, and is a smart kid. He knows how to play the game. He contributes
: in all facets and his coaches loved him.
對於有一個大學畢業生：

對於Howard能否作出貢獻：

: We were a little surprised by Dwayne Wade going so high. We had to talk long
: and hard about the Lampe kid because everybody was pegging him to be up in
: the lottery. But because of his buyout, once he got passed the lottery, he
: wasn’t making enough money to pay his buyout and survive. Beyond that, there
: really weren’t any huge surprises. It was amazing because out of the top 23
: picks, we had 20 of them correct.
選秀會上的驚奇：
我們對於Wade這麼早被選感到有些訝異。我們也有花不少時間在考慮Lampe因為每個人都覺
得他一定是樂透區的。但是由於他的合約買斷問題，如果他不在樂透區內，他就沒有足夠
的錢付他的買斷金來打球。除此之外就沒有什麼大驚奇了，上面題的那些會讓我們意外是
因為前23順位我們就排對了20個。

: We will have to let him play in the summer leagues and see what his handles
: are before we decide. He’s a very versatile kid offensively and defensively.
: We have such a scoring team, we just need someone to come in and play defense.
: He’s really going to be a pleasant addition for us.
關於Josh的位置：

: I couldn’t tell you. I’m just coming in trying to just play ball and
: continue to work hard like I’ve been doing throughout college and just trying

: Defensive wise and offensive rebounding and just staying motivated through hard

: Can you tell us what you think of Mavericks in general?
: They’re a grown up version of Wake Forest as far as running and gunning.
: They have good guards and I hope I can fit in well. I’ve watched them play
: several times. I’ve had the chance to see a lot of great games that they had
: and hopefully I’ll fit in. I’ll be playing behind some great people in
: Michael Finley and watching guys like Nick Van Exel and Steve Nash play.
: Hopefully I can just learn from them.
Q. 你可以告訴我們你對小牛的整體看法嗎？

: I just think my attitude and my outside shooting.

: What was the feeling like when the first round was coming to a close?
: Were you getting nervous?
: When that last pick came I really didn’t know what was going to happen and my
: name was called and I kind of broke down into tears because I was so happy.

當最後一順位來臨時，我不知道會發生什麼事。我的名字被叫到時我有點想哭，因為我很

: Were you surprised that the Mavs picked you since you didn’t work out for

: Yeah, I guess that even made it better. Somebody had been watching me from
: their organization and I appreciate them watching me.
Q. 你對於小牛沒有測試你就選了你感到詫異嗎？
A. 會阿，我想那可能使我機會更好。他們有派人來看我，我也很感激他們看我。
: What do you think about playing behind a guy like Michael Finley?
: It’s a great learning experience. That’s all I’m coming in to do is to learn
: and try to improve my game like he did and that’s just a tool I’m going to
: have to use coming in.
Q. 你對於跟在Finley身後打球有什麼感想？
A. 這會是很棒的學習經驗。我要做的事就是學習和試著讓我的比賽進步，能打的跟他一樣
。 他是一個我進來後必須要使用的學習工具。
: What advantages were there for staying in school all four years?
: My maturity level and staying calm in certain situations and my confidence in
: myself and my teammates
Q. 留在學校四年有什麼優點嗎？
A. 我的成熟度，在某些情形下保持冷靜的能力，和我對我自己和隊友的信心。
