     DALLAS (August 5, 2005) — The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have
signed rookie free agent swingman Rawle Marshall. Terms of the deal were not
disclosed. The “e” in his first name is silent.

    “Rawle is a young player with a tremendous upside. We are excited about
his length, athleticism and potential for growth,” said President of
Basketball Operations/Assistant Coach Donnie Nelson.

     Marshall (6-7, 190) played for the Mavericks in the 2005 Rocky Mountain
Revue after appearing in four games for the Memphis Grizzlies in the Southern
California Summer Pro League. In five games with Dallas, he averaged 10.6
points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in a team-high 27.4 minutes per game.
Marshall also averaged 1.80 steals per game, which ranked him third among all
players in the Rocky Mountain Revue.

     After playing sparingly in his freshman season at Ball State, Marshall
transferred to Oakland University where he averaged 18.6 points over his final
three collegiate seasons. Marshall was an All-Mid-Continent First Team
selection in 2003 and 2005 and a Second Team pick in 2004. As a senior,
Marshall averaged team-highs of 19.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.25 blocks and 1.84
steals in 36.2 minutes per game.

     Marshall was named MVP of the 2005 Mid-Con Tournament after averaging 20.0
points and 11.0 rebounds to lead Oakland to its first Mid-Con title. He scored
26 points against Alabama A&M in the NCAA Tournament play-in game and tallied
16 points and 5 rebounds in a first-round loss to eventual National Champion
North Carolina. Marshall also competed in the 17th Annual Mountain Dew College
Slam Dunk Championship back in late March.

     Although he was born in Guyana (located in northern South America),
Marshall moved to New York when he was four and later attended high school in
Detroit. He lettered in basketball, track and cross country and was also the
salutatorian of his senior class. Marshall earned a degree in communications
from Oakland University.
