DALLAS -- All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki will not start tonight against the
Minnesota Timberwolves because he was late for the Dallas Mavericks' pregame
shootaround.


Josh Howard will take Nowitzki's place in the Mavericks' starting lineup.

Nowitzki, the Mavericks' only All-Star representative, is active for the
game. He aggravated a thumb injury in Wednesday's win over the Golden State
Warriors but practiced without any problems the next day.
