[新聞] Mavericks' defense delivers in win over Suns

Brendan Haywood put the Mavericks' 107-97 victory over Phoenix on Wednesday
night in perspective.

"I don't think I've ever been on a team that held them under 100 points," the
new Maverick said.

 Through two games, the new Mavericks look like a new team. Defensively, they
have done the job as they clamped down on the Suns, who failed to reach 100
points for just the seventh time this season and just the second time since
Christmas.

這兩場比賽小牛看起來變得不同了，在防守上，小牛限制太陽的得分沒有超過100
，這是太陽本季第七次，聖誕節後的第二次。

The Mavericks led by as much as 19 points in the third quarter, but things got
interesting for the sellout crowd at American Airlines Center as Phoenix made a
run in the fourth.

They cut the gap to 90-85, and it was still seven points until Jason Terry hit
a pull-up jumper and Haywood had his fifth block of the night, this one on Suns
center Robin Lopez, that led to a Terry 3-pointer for a 103-91 lead with 2:29
to go.

 It was a stellar night for Jason Kidd, who had a career-best seven steals to
go with 18 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.

"He's just amazing," coach Rick Carlisle said. "It was an amazing game. To get
seven steals is incredible, and they all seemed to come at timely moments when
they were getting ready to get a layup or an open shot."

「他真是棒透啦！」卡帥如是說。「這真是場漂亮的比賽，拿到7抄截真是不可思議，而
我們也準備好靠這些抄截去上籃或投籃」

The win avoided what would have been the Mavericks' second three-game losing
streak in the last nine games. It sent them into the off day of a four-game,
five-night stretch feeling much better about themselves.

這場勝利讓小牛避免了最近九場比賽中的第二次三連敗。這讓小牛帶著比較好的感覺
去挑戰接下來五天四場的賽程。

Carlisle played primarily six players – the starters, plus Terry – as they
all had more than 32 minutes on the court.

這場比賽卡帥主要用了六個球員，先發五人+JET，每個人都上場超過32分鐘

"This was a game we had to have," Carlisle said. "There were longer TV timeouts
 and a longer halftime, so you can get away with playing guys a little longer."

「這是非拿下不可的比賽」卡帥說。「TV暫停跟半場休息都比較長，所以我可以讓他們
打久一點」

The Mavericks won the season series, 2-1. Dirk Nowitzki finished with 28 points
, and Haywood had 10 points and nine rebounds to augment his blocks. Caron
Butler had 15 points, and Shawn Marion had a double-double with 14 points and
10 rebounds

小牛本季在對太陽的比賽獲得了2-1的優勢，DIRK拿到28分，黑霧拿下10分9板5鍋，BUTLER
有15分，MARION則是拿下了D-D，14分10籃板。
