Columbia TriStar Interactive Launches First Wireless Web Movie Site for
'Hanging Up'Continuing to Break Ground in Reaching New Platforms and
New Devices, CTI Is The First Hollywood Studio to Begin Building and
sending Its Content Out Specifically Aimed at Web Enabled Cell Phones.
CULVER CITY, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia TriStar Interactive to
launch the first ever wireless film Web site for the theatrical release
``Hanging Up,'' that has been specifically designed to be viewed over web
enabled cell phones. (Web or smart phones allow users to surf the Web.)
By pressing a few buttons on a web phone, moviegoers can get movie
information, check instantly where the movie is playing locally
and get show times. They can even listen to the full-length trailer of the
movie over the phone.
The Web site is located at http://www.sony.com/hangingup. The film ``Hanging
Up'' opens nationwide February 18.
The movie is about three sisters -- Eve (``You've Got Mail'''s Meg Ryan),
Georgia (Oscar winner Diane Keaton) and Maddy (Lisa Kudrow of ``Friends'')
-- who deal with love, death and the telephone when they learn that their
father (Oscar winner Walther Matthau), after years of wild living,
intermittent affection, constant phoning and driving them crazy, is
finally threatening to die.
``In the film the cell phone is practically a supporting character. Being that
phone culture is so much a part of the movie, it was a good avenue for us
to expand upon the work we're doing with cell phones,'' said Lynda Keeler
, CTI Vice President and General Manager.
