competition.
SG Reggie Lewis 1990-93 Life tragically cut short.

6th Man Antoine Walker 1996-99 Talented big guy settles for outside shot
perhaps too often.
Coach Chris Ford 1990-95 The dynasty had to crumble at some point.
Memorable moments
Reggie Lewis' tragic death on July 27, 1993. Weeks after he collapsed during
a playoff game against the Charlotte Hornets, Lewis again went down while
shooting baskets at Brandeis University. The 27-year old was in complete
cardiac arrest when paramedics got to him and died shortly thereafter. …
Larry Legend decides to retire before the 1992-93 season. Bird, coming off
playing with the Dream Team in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, decided
to call it quits because of a chronic back condition. Bird won three league
MVPs. It became a double whammy for the Celtics one year later as their other
future Hall-of-Fame forward, Kevin McHale, also retired.
Best year: 1990-91
It looked like graybeards Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish had one
last title run in them as they raced out to a 29-5 record to start the season.
But Bird's back went out in January and the Celtics limped into the playoffs,
where they were knocked out in the second round by the Motor City "Bad Boys."
Worst year: 1996-97
The Celtics suffered their worst season ever -- by a long shot -- leading to
the firing of coach M.L. Carr and the hiring of Rick Pitino.
