Player option 的一個問題

我聽到的球員選擇權 (PO) 執行方式，好像是在六月三十日以前，由
球員的經紀人通知球隊他們選擇不要，因此合約沒有延長一年，所以
成為自由球員。而選擇權的選擇年則是只合約被延長的那一年。

感覺上我好像是講了廢話，不過這邊有一個小小的差異：

一個是球員宣告放棄最後一年合約，跳出合約成為自由球員。 -a

一個是球員宣告放棄選擇權，合約未獲延長而成為自由球員。 -b

在 -a 中，若球員與經紀人什麼事都沒作，七月一日後他還是會留在
球隊裡；在 -b 中，若球員與經紀人什麼事都沒作，七月一日後他就
會成為自由球員。

發生過的愚蠢例子就是： Anthony Carter 的經紀人 Bill Duffy 因
為忘掉要在六月三十日以前通知熱火他們要動用選擇權，以致於可憐
的 Carter 成為自由球員。

從這個案例應該就可以確定，選擇權的執行方式如上述，也就是 -b。

CBA 裡頭對於 Option 的解釋也傾向 -b：

"Option" means an option in a Player Contract in favor of a
Team or player to extend such Contract beyond its stated term.

"Option Year" means the year that would be added to a Player
Contract if an Option were exercised.

這對於這次的擴張選秀也會有影響。 比如說 Nash，若照上述說明，
則小牛現在應該不需要傷腦筋該不該將他排進保護名單裡頭，因為他
並不會動用選擇權延長合約。相對的，如果有球員有可能在六月二十
三日以前動用選擇權，那麼球隊在六月十二日的時候最好別冒險。

所以嚴格來講，並沒有什麼 opt-out 這種東西？

譬如 kobe，明年結束後只要啥都不做，他就是 FA，
而「繼續打」，也就是 opt-in，才是 Player Option 的真實意義？

真的差點完蛋了給他，還好我的第三篇稿子沒有發出去。

這樣說來 Coon 的理解恐怕也有一點點瑕疵？

選擇權有三種：

球隊選擇權 Team Options

球員選擇權 Player Options

球員提早結束合約選擇權 Player Early Termination Options

第三種其實可以說是算在第二種裡頭的，也是一種球員選擇權。

依照 CBA 的說法：

前兩者是 opt-in，最多延長一年； 後者才是 opt-out，最多縮短兩
年，且必須用在特定合約狀態。

回到 Nash 的問題。所以說，現在出現了一個狀況：無法判斷 Nash
的 Option，是普通的 PO 呢？還是 ETO 呢？如果是 PO 的話，狀況
應該就如上面說的那樣。 而如果是 ETO 的話，球隊還是得趕快打電
話去找 Nash，說服他早點執行選擇權脫離合約。

（補充：mynowitzki 補充說 Nash 已經宣布 opt-out 了，以他的合
約看來應該也是 ETO。相關的判定問題我們以後再談吧）

沒記錯的話  5/27有一份報導
Nash已經正式宣布opt out
他現在是UFA

如果照非人大之前給的網址看的話

an Early Termination Option (or "ETO") is exercisable only once and takes
effect no earlier than the end of the fifth Season of the Contract.

然後又由於Nash的合約是99年1/25 延長的

A Contract that does not provide for an ETO when signed may not be amended to
provide for an ETO during the original term of the Contract. A Team and a
player may enter into an Extension that contains an ETO, provided that such
ETO takes effect no earlier than the fifth Season following (i) the Season
during which the Extension is signed, or (ii) if the Extension is signed
between Seasons, the date on which the Extension is signed.

所以Nash的opt out應屬ETO 是這樣的嗎?
