A. A Reminder for preparation.
1. Read the manual and consult the mentor or other experienced members about
how to write the script.
2. As soon as you decide your title, call or email VPE, telling him/her the
title (and the objectives).
3. Start to write the script 4 weeks before and email your draft to your
mentor and other experienced members for comments or revision.
4. Start to memorize it 2 weeks before. Rehearse 20 times and you will surely
deliver it successfully
5. At latest one week (better 2 weeks or 10 days) before, email or call TME
to tell him/her how to introduce you, and how to connect the introduction of
you to your speech.
6. Make sure that your IE has your script at latest 2-3 days before
7. Remember to bring your manual to the meeting and give it to your IE before
the meeting starts.
B.Useful Tips (offered by Susan Wu)
1. Be creative!
“Oh! Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?”“ Shall I hear more? Or shall
I speak at this? I never saw true beauty till this night. It is my soul that
calls upon my name. How silver sweet, sound lovers tongues by night. Like
softest music to attending ear's”“Opening” can get people attention
immediately.
Be creative! Always try something different to entertain and surprise your
audience.
2. Be brave!
Ballroom Dancing has different levels. For example, Amateur, Professional
class C, Professional class B, and the highest Professional class A. Modern
Dancing, included Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and Quickstep. Latin Dancing,
included Cha-Cha-Cha, Lumbar, Samba, Paso, and Jive. Do some research for
your speech, be brave, and show it with your body language.
3. Have passion for your topic
Read the manual, choose the topic that you are interested, and be prepared.
With the topic that you are interested, you can deliver a good speech, people
can benefit from your sharing, get different life experiences and success for
the rapidly changing world.
