(25%)(5) An ideal Diesel cycle with air as the working fluid has a compression
ratio of 18 and a cutoff ratio of 2. At the beginning of the
compression process, the working fluid is at 101.325kPa, 25℃, and 1800m3.
Utilizing the cold-air –standard assumptions, determine(a)the plot of the
P-V and T-S diagrams,(b)the temperature and pressure of the air at the end
of each process,(c)the net work output and the thermal efficiency.
(The gas constant of air is R=0.287kJ/kg K, Cp=1.005 kJ/kg K, Cv=0.718 kJ/kg K, and k=1.4)
(20%)A 200-m3 rigid tank initially contains atmospheric air at 100kPa and 300K
and is to be used as a storage vessel for compressed air at 1MPa and
300K. Compressed air is to be supplied by a compressor that takes in
atmospheric air at Po=100kPa and To=300K. Determine the minimum
work requirement for this process.
