A train of spur gear is shown in Fig. 2. Gear 1 is the driving gear and
transmits 5 KW power at 1200 rpm. The number of teeth on gears 1, 2, 3, and
4 are 18, 55, 18 and 55 respectively. The gears have a 20 degree full depth
involute profile.
Please find the following design information:
(a) The modulus (M) of the gear 1 and gear 3.
(b) Specify the surface hardness (HRC) of gear 1 and gear 3.
(c) The necessary diameter of the intermediate shaft (中間軸, shaft is used
to support gear 2 and gear 3).
(d) The candidate bearing (bearing type and size) at support C.
(If it is possible, please make some decisions of suitable dimension for your
calculation).
