1.A ship is floating in salt water(density 1.025 tonnes/m^3)at drafts of 6.7m F
and 7.3m A.TPC=10 tonnes/cm.MCTC=250 tonnes‧m/cm.Length of ship 120m.The
centre of floation is 3m aft of amidships.220 tonnes of cargo is then
discharged from a position 24m forward of the centre of floation.Find the
weight of cargo which must now be shifted from 5m aft of the centre of
floation to a position 20m forward of the centre of floation,to bring the
draft aft to 7.0m.Find also the final draft forward.(20％)
2.A ship of 8000 tonnes displacement has KM 7.5m,and KG 7.0m.A double
bottom tank is 12m long,15m wide and 1m deep.The tank is divided
longitudinally at the centre line and both sides are full of salt water
(density 1.025 tonnes/m^3).Caculate the list if one side is pumped out
until it is half empty.(20％)
3.A ship is floating in dock water of relative density 1.020.The present
displacement is 10000 tonnes,KG 6.02m,KM 6.92m.Present drafts are F 12.65m
,A 13.25m.Present freeboard 1.05m.Summer draft 13.10m and Summer freeboard is
1.01m.FWA 150mm.TPC 21 tonnes/cm.Assuming that the KM is constant,find the
amount of cargo(KG 10.0m)which can be loaded for the ship to sail at the load
Summer draft.Find also the amount of the hog or sag and the initial
metacentric height on departure.(20％)
4.A box-shaped vessel of length 100m and breadth 18m,floats in salt water
on an even keel at 7.5m draft.KG=4m.The ship has a continuous centre line
bulkhead which is watertight.Find the list if a compartment amidships,
which is 15m long and is empty,is bilged on one side.(20％)
5.A box-shaped vessel is 36m long,5m wide and floats in fresh water at drafts
F 2.50m.A 4.50m.Find the new drafts if the vessel now passes into salt water.
