An insulated, electrically heated tank for hot water contains 190 kg of
liquid water at 333K when a power outage occurs. If water is withdrawn from
the tank at a steady rate of mass flow = 0.2kg/sec,how long will it take for
the temperature of the water in the tank to drop from 333K to 308K ? Assume
cold water enters the tank at 283K, and negligible heat losses from the tank.
For liquid water let Cv = Cp = C,independant of T and P.

An open cylindrical tank with a base area of 2m^2 and a height of 10m
contains 4m^3 of water. As a result of corrosion, the tank develops a leak at
its bottom. The rate at which leaves the tank through the leak is

is equal to the rate of change of the enthalpy for the system.

(a)A photovoltaic cell is used to convert solar energy to electric energy.
Estimate the maximum efficiency of a photovoltaic cell that is operating in
steady state.Assume that the temperatures of the sun and the photovoltaic cell
are 6500K and 300K,and the cell is losing heat by conduction to the
environment.
