I. Answer the following questions as briefly as you can. 80%
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold , i bring you good tidings
of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in
the City of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord
(Luke 2: 10-11)
Question 1:
"Christ" is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word "Messiah."
What do these words mean?

Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is call Christ?
They all say unto them, Let him be crucified. And the governor said, Why, what
evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was
made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude...

Question 2:
What does Pilate mean to say by washing his hands before the
multitude?

who after all were doing exactly the same things themselves. But the idling of
men is called business; the idling of boys, though exactly alike, is punished
by those same men: and no one pities either boy or men.

Question 3:
If the idling men do not receive corporal punishment, why should
anyone pity them? What's pitiable about them?

What does Augustine mean by " dying unto death and living unto
life" ?

Ulysses is pictured as wrapped in a flame with its tips shaped like
a tongue. Why is this image appropriate for the character of the well-known
Homeric hero?

Why must Virgil and Dante "take leave of ...evil" by using Satan's body for
stairs?

Mount of Purgatory?
