-Here's a Quotation from John Thieme on the Topic of "Dcolonization":
The process of moving from a dependent colonial situation to an independent
condition. Decolonization is often equated with achieving political indepen-
dence and commentators such as Frantz Fanon have argued that revolutionary
violence is nevessary to its attainment... However, decolonization invariably
involves a more gradual and thorough-going process of change, entailing
economic, cultural and psychological transformations.
Write a cogent essay outlining what you consider to be the significance of
these ideas in the context of this course. 10%
PART B
-Choose one of the texts, J. M. Coetzee's "Foe" or SABC'S "South Africa's
Human Spirit." Write an essay to assess how John Thieme's ideas about
decolonization can help you to undderstand the work performed by the text you
have chosen and explain why or why not. 10%
